Do you wish dogs would stay small and cute forever?

I do too! If you want to get a dog that stays small and looks like a puppy, miniature Terriers are great! They are so small and sweet!

Dogs that stay small and cute forever?

Me and my family are looking for a dog, we prefer a samll dog .puppys are cute but they can grow to be big.
i already know about dachaunds,chiwawas..(i dont know how to spell that)...but thres also one i really want to get the breed of. they stay super samll and i think like celebs must have it. thats not why i want it i just want to find a good breed,\

im not one of those paris hilton wannbes and are going around buying teeny tiny dogs to carry around as if they are an accessorie. <- not me. just thought i should tha people know before they go all crazy oon me. i know responsibilties. right know i want to know ALL the types of breeds that stay small dogs.
Your best bet would be to get any dog that is considered a part of the "toy" group (this includes chihuahuas)

here is a listing of the breeds considered a part of this group by the AKC:

- Affenpinscher
- Brussels Griffon
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
- Chihuahua
- Chinese Crested
- Engllish Toy Spaniel
- Havanese
- Italian Greyhound
- Japanese Chin
- Maltese
- Manchester Terrier
- Miniature Pinscher
- Papillon
- Pekingese
- Pomeranian
- Poodle (toy)
- Pug
- Shih Tzu
- Silky Terrier
- Toy Fox Terrier
- Yorkshire Terrier (yorkie)

The only dogs of these that i have had a great deal of experience with are the C. king Charles Spaniel, the Chihuahua, the Italian Greyhound, Maltese, Min. Pinscher, Pomeranian, Poodle, Pug, Shih Tzu, and Yorkie.

Min. Pinschers can be a little 'testy' sometimes (most of the ones i have dealt with are pretty nasty. The Italian Greyhound is probably my favorite of all of these, but may be a little pricey. Yorkies are always good dogs, but may require grooming.

I definatly recommend that you look into any of these breeds and research the ones you are interested in before purchasing a dog. Good luck!

When I introduced my older Golden to my yonger one

When I introduced my older Golden to my yonger one, i put the younger one in an enclosed area with thise folding gate like things. After a while, the older was comming up to the edge of the encloser and the two were touching noses and batting at eachother's paws. Then I took the little one out of it's area, and the two immidiatly got along. Remember to watch the whole prosses, incase something goes wrong, and be sure to give the older lots of individual attention. Good Luck!!

since puppy was taken from its littermates

since puppy was taken from its littermates and mother too early - it has missed out on very important socializing -- so when your adult dogs tries to let it know it doesn;t want to play - the pup doesn't understand ( because it was removed from its mom etc. too early) just monitor them and make sure the pup isn't pestering the adult too much... they will grow to be good friends i am sure

I've been going through this myself...

I've been going through this myself...I have a 12 1/2 year old lab and just introduced a 8 week (Now 11 week) old Australian Shepherd.

All I can say is give it time. If they're getting along outside, that's a good sign. Make sure they're always supervised when they're together and if the older dog shows aggression, tell him no.

Also, make sure the older dog is getting "Special" attention apart from the puppy. Give it a special treat, or take it for a nice long walk without the puppy in tow.

It's been almost 4 weeks since I brought the little one home and my 2 are getting along fine now.

Actually your older dog is doing everything right.

Actually your older dog is doing everything right. She's not beating up on the puppy, she plays with it when she feels like it, and she's warning it when she doesn't want to play and not fighting with it or trying to hurt it. She may be avoiding it indoors just because she doesn't want to play. She sounds like she's being really tolerant of the interloper, but just keep a close eye on them for a while. The pup will figure it out sooner or later.

How do you teach a puppy to stop unnecessary barking?

My friend and I just got a miniature pinscher puppy and she is barking so much when we leave, that the neighbors have been complaining. The puppy tends to bark when we leaveswhich I know is completely normal. What would be the best way to train a puppy to not bark so much without having to to take her to a trainer?

She's got separation anxiety and also boredom.. I solved the problem by doing various things:
Had a radio outside turned on to give the sense that someone was home still
Didn't make a fuss when I was leaving and didn't go straight out to him when I got home
Gave him plenty of toys to play with and also a raw hide chew when I left in order to keep him occupied while I was leaving.
Try to leave your tv on when you leave so she will hear voices and not feel so alone. Explain to your neighbors that you are sorry but you need time to train her. Maybe you can pretend to leave and stand outside the door, when she starts to bark come back in and say no no. She will catch on in time.

My puppy should eatwhat kind of healthy puppy food?

I have a 6 month old pomeranian who weighs 10 pounds. He eats his puppy mix but doesn't really seem fond of it. He really enjoys his Cesar canine cuisine which i give him and eats it instantly but it is too expensive. Any suggestions?

Best Answer - Chosen by puppy
Even though puppy chow and pedigree are cheaper - they're expensive if your dog won't eat it and you end up throwing it away. So, you don't necessarily have to feed him Cesar's Canine Cuisine, but there are lots of quality dog foods out there to choose from. Such as Canidae, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, INNOVA, Blue Buffalo, etc. You may have to pay a little more, but your dog will be getting the protein and minerals he needs instead of a bunch of grains and cereals that will leave him unsatisfied and which he may be allergic to. Many dogs have allergies to all the grains in the cheaper dog foods. Buy a quality dog food that he will eat and you'll be ahead in the long run - both financially and your dog's health.
Your best puppy food to me is Wellness, Just for Puppy, it is expensive but it is worth it. If your pup won't eat kibble, just take it away after 15-20 minutes and give it again at the next meal with no snacks in between. When your pup realizes that this is the food that he is expected to eat and nothing more is offered, he will eat. Dogs will not starve themselves.
